When an ISIS Fighter Wants to Talk
That the crimes that the ISIS fighters are committing against people, especially against our Christian brothers and sisters, are horrendous is a well-known fact. Many people believe that the best way to deal with them is by fighting fire with fire. However, what if Christ asked you to love one of this fighters, would you? Would you be willing to share the Good News of salvation with an ISIS fighter, or do you feel it is a lost cause?
We will do to remember that Paul persecuted the Church in a similar fashion, and that Christ in His mercy touched Paul’s heart in a very powerful way, to the point that he became a great evangelist. Many had given up on him; many considered him an enemy; but Christ in His mercy saved Him and used Him for His Kingdom.
Now, I realize that I am far from my brethren who are being persecuted by ISIS, and that what I am proposing is easier said than done. However, something tells me that my persecuted brethren are so in the spirit under the conditions that they are enduring, that the Lord is helping them love even those who persecute them.
Yet, many of us who are far away and comfortable seem to be unable to look for and find a way to deny the enemy (satan) victory by loving those who seek to do the Church harm. All we have to do is love as Christ loves. I encourage you to listen to the podcast VOM Radio: When an ISIS Fighter Wants to Talk. Perhaps this will help you look at the situation from a different angle.
